Sunrise at Mirante Dona Marta 🇧🇷 This Sunrise at Mirante Dona Marta 🇧🇷

This is a wonderful location to see amazing views of Sugarloaf Mountain and Christ the Redeemer (behind me).

When we visited, the lookout was actually closed but luckily our private driver convinced the guards to let us check it out for a few minutes. This is just one of the reasons why having a private driver is the way to go in Rio!

If you're interested in a driver, definitely contact Felipe at +55 21 98271-4452. We drove with him for two days and had the best time! Felipe went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and also recommended a few other awesome photo spots and restaurants to check out that weren't originally on our list. 🚖

Some of you have been asking what I've been reading so here's my list of books from December - January:

• Throne of Glass series*
• Blood & Ash series* (18+)
• The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue*
• Crescent City* (18+)
• The Bridge Kingdom series* (18+)
• Rhapsodic (18+)
• The Wrath and Dawn series

*Books I recommend reading

All of these are fantasy and are under the enemies-to-lovers category (except Addie La Rue) so expect strong female leads, magic, and romance.

Have you read any of these books or do you have other recommendations???

In 2016, world-renowned Brazilian graffiti artist, Eduardo Kobra, was commissioned to create this piece of art before the Olympics in Rio. 🇧🇷

The work depicts a Tajapo boy from Brazil, a Mursi woman from Ethiopia, a Kayin woman from Thailand, a Supi man from Northern Europe, and a Huli man from Papua New Guinea. They represent humanity’s common ancestors, the indigenous people from America, Asia, Europe, Africa, and Oceania. Kobra's intention was to show that everyone is connected - that we are one.

Christ the Redeemer is our 5th World Wonder. 🇧🇷⁣
⁣
Since traveling together in 2016, @laytonjacobcox and I have visited Chichén Itzá, Machu Picchu, the Colosseum, the Great Wall, and now Christ the Redeemer. It's my goal to see all 7 World Wonders by the time I'm 30 - only 3 years left!

Which of the World Wonders have you seen?? Or which ones would you like to see??⁣

Here's a list for reference:⁣

• Christ the Redeemer Statue (Brazil)⁣
• Machu Picchu (Peru)⁣
• Chichen Itza (Mexico)⁣
• The Colosseum (Rome)⁣
• Petra (Jordan)⁣
• Taj Mahal (India)⁣
•⁣ Great Wall of China (China)⁣

Rio de Janeiro stole my heart ♥️ In all Rio de Janeiro stole my heart ♥️

In all honesty, I didn't expect to like Rio. I read online that it was dangerous to visit, and I hadn't seen many travel bloggers visit so I made the assumption that it wouldn't be worthwhile. But I was wrong.

Rio is one of the most fun, exciting, and lively cities I've ever visited. The food is INCREDIBLE! Seriously, every single thing we ate was delicious. The beaches are stunning - and there are quite a few to explore! And the people are so friendly and kind, and we were never hassled. If I had the time and money, I would take a trip to Rio every year.

But is it dangerous? There are flavelas you shouldn't venture into especially at night or if you're alone, but there are also neighborhoods in Dallas I wouldn't visit. Every city has sketchy areas but it shouldn't dictate the safety of the entire city. We were in Rio for 7 days and never felt unsafe or uncomfortable. If you stick to touristy areas, explore during the day, and use Uber or a private driver, you shouldn't have any issues.

*This shot was taken up at Sugarloaf Mountain during sunset. Definitely come here for the most beautiful views of Rio. It'll be busy so arrive 2 hours before sunset.

¡Vamos a la playa! 🏖️ My favorite ¡Vamos a la playa! 🏖️

My favorite beach in all of Rio was Praia Vermelha aka the red beach. While Copacabana and Ipanema offer long stretches of beautiful beach and a lively atmosphere, Praia Vermelha is smaller and more local, so while there's less going on it's a lot more relaxing.

The beach is also located next to a military base (adding to one's sense of security) and within walking distance of the Sugarloaf cable car (for the best views of the city). 🇧🇷

Definitely be sure to add this amazing, underrated beach to your list of places to see whenever you get the chance to visit Rio de Janeiro!

These beautiful stairs were created by Jorge Selarón. He began renovating the steps that were just in front of his house but decided to continue with the whole staircase. There are 215 steps covered in over 2000 tiles collected from over 60 countries around the world.

If you want to visit these beautifully tiled stairs, be sure to go early in the morning!
